Viet Nam asks for USAID support to solve poverty, climate challenges

(VNA - 08/05/2012) - Viet Nam hopes to receive more support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for hunger elimination and poverty reduction, climate change adaptation, human resource training and HIV/AIDS prevention.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made this request to the visiting USAID deputy administrator, Donald Steinberg, in Ha Noi on May 7.

Phuc said that cooperation between USAID and the Vietnamese Government has contributed to the friendly partnership between the two countries.

Steinberg said USAID is willing to work with Viet Nam to solve the problems facing the country and noted that USAID is helping relevant agencies address Agent Orange/dioxin-related issues.
